The Climbing Primer

Bouldering

Bouldering is climbing short walls without a rope, landing on thick padded mats. It uses the V-scale for difficulty, which starts around V0, and it is the friendliest entry point because there is no rope system to master before you climb. These guides cover how to fall and land safely, the basics of spotting a partner, and how to read a problem, the planned sequence of holds, before you leave the ground. Because the climbs are short you get lots of tries, lots of quick feedback, and a real sense of progress in a single session.
